Dr. Anand Thakur, MD joined Florida Joint and Spine Institute in 2021 after practicing for 12 years in a solo practice in Michigan. He is looking forward to working with a brilliant team of compassionate and dedicated surgeons who are dedicated to the best evidence based outcomes for their patients.
Currently, Dr. Thakur spends his time performing all aspects of advanced interventional pain management and innovative techniques such as all aspects of spine injections (cervical, thoracic and lumbar), rhizotomies and cooled radio frequency, and Kyphoplasty for the treatment of vertebral compression fracture.
He also performs minimally invasive procedures such as spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, advanced procedures such as the MILD procedure, Vertiflex, for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. Other advanced procedures he performs are sacroiliac joint fusion, lumbar facet fusion, intrathecal drug delivery systems, and advanced biologic injections with Plasma Rich Protein (PRP) and stem cells.
Dr. Thakur performs thousands of interventional procedures every year and also enjoys teaching and discussing new innovations with colleagues in his field. Dr. Thakur also performs advanced minimally invasive procedures at the Bone Joint Surgical Suites.
He is a key opinion leader in pain medicine at both the state and national levels. He is the past president of the Michigan Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (MSIPP).
Dr. Thakur is a double board-certified ACGME fellowship trained interventional pain physician from The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has presented on both the state and national level and has authored book chapters on Anesthesiology and pain medicine. His goals are to treat the whole patient, and diagnose and treat patients to achieve the best functioning in all phases of their life.
Dr. Thakur wants every patient to leave their appointment with a full understanding of what is being treated and why.
